SCS Backs DEI
SCHOHARIE - While diversity, equity, and inclusion programs are being attacked on the federal level Schoharie school officials have pledged their support of DEI programs and policies.
At the February 13 school board meeting, Superintendent David Blanchard and other board members supported district policy 3430 for DEI in the district.
Mr. Blanchard said he knows the value of DEI at SCS.
"I know the value of being inclusive," he told school board members. "We've been a very responsive district for all students, at least for the 10 years that I've been here."
It is "very important to accept differences" in students and staff, the Superintendent added.
Despite what is going on in other parts of the country, the district will continue support the district policy, Mr. Blanchard said.
"We'll continue to work on these values. We'll make sure we serve all students and all students will be respected and valued."
Board member John Florussen added, "in Schoharie, we respect all students and the students respect other students."
