The Prattsville Scoop

PRATTSVILLE – All parents, or most of them, are breathing a sigh of relief. The Presidents’ week is over their children will be back in school full time. Of course, that brings the extra travel time getting the student participants to practice and the games. Enjoy your time together.

The children of Jessica and John Young, Adalyn and Nolan, got their parents to take them to the Aquarium on one of their vacation days at home. Not sure where the aquarium is but do know there is one in Rotterdam so perhaps that was where they went – good trip for all the family. The children really enjoyed the visit, so probably so did Jessica and John. Nice family.

The following is sponsored by the American Legion Virgil E. Deyo Post 1327, Prattsville: For local Prattsville veterans or for veterans with Prattsville origins, living or deceased, Legionnaires or not, please check out the following for inclusion with new banners for display on the Main Street of Prattsville. https://militarytributebanners.org/new-york/prattsville-ny.html. This should take you directly to the website and Prattsville's program.  In the past years, Prattsville’s program has received many favorable comments. Information forwarded by Commander Chris Tompkins, Post 1327.

Saturday night was the first night in a long time where the overnight temperature stayed in the 20’s. And during the day Sunday 24th, the 30’s were reached. Not much thawing took place but it was a break in the ultra cold weather. Flocks of robins have been seen for the past two weeks. Not large numbers but they are here. Have not seen nor heard the Red Wing blackbirds and they are usually here the 14th of February.

Brian and Terry Lane Clark are awaiting the arrival of their first grandchild, thanks to daughter Joanna and her husband. More to be revealed when the event happens. Congratulations.

Feel better wishes go out to fellow columnist Lula Anderson of Ashland Speaks. Speedy return to full health Lula. Also sending out speedy recovery wishes to Pat Minew. So many family members and friends seem to be in a vicious cycle. As soon as they get over one ailment, another one strikes. Bed rest and hot liquids and TLC seem to be the best cure. Everyone take care.

Marianne and Johannes Krauss, with friends Dieter and Lorraine, tried the cuisine at the Hidden Inn in South Kortright. There were no thumbs down for the service nor the food and that is a good thing. Marianne has been very busy making preemie, very small, crocheted hats for St. Philip Neri’s annual Mother’s Day baby shower for needy mothers. Baby items needed are disposable diapers, swaddling clothes – what we used to call receiving blankets – onesies, one piece sleepers, etc. etc. Used items in very good condition will be accepted.

Claudia Bracaliello is doing a lot of reading and enjoying catching up on her book list, sometimes on the Kindle, and has a list of preferred authors for recommendations. It is said that the next best thing to reading a book is, upon finishing it, to talk about it. But above all her many activities, being an organist is by far her favorite. Why not, she is an expert organist and performs frequently at Proctor’s even getting to play Goldie, the famous organ.

Sympathy to the family of John Ballard who recently passed. John has ties to families in Prattsville. Our prayers go out to all.

Happy Birthday to Patricia Chatfield and Zoe Jean Hill on March 3. Zoe is the granddaughter of Larry and Sandy Case Hill out there in Missouri. Hope they are safe and their weather is improving. Make sure you get to wish Toby Olivierie, a very Happy Birthday on March 4. Toby is the mother of Al and mother-in-law of Lenore. She chose her children well. On March 7 we wish Jennifer Hill, daughter-in-law of Larry and Sandy Hill, a very Happy Birthday. Seems the Hills like to use just a few days on the calendar for birthdays and anniversaries. On March 7 we wish Bonnie Chase a Happy Birthday.
