Conviction in Stamford DWI Case

Written By The Mountain Eagle on 4/25/25 | 4/25/25

STAMFORD – District Attorney Shawn J. Smith announced that Anastacio Ramirez, 52, of Clifton, NJ, pleaded guilty in the Town of Stamford Court on April 14, 2025, to one count of Driving While Intoxicated, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, and was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge.  As part of his sentence, he is also required to attend a Victim Impact Panel, and his license will be revoked for at least six months. When he does get his license back, he will have to install an ignition interlock device for at least one year on any vehicle he owns or drives.  If the defendant violates any terms or conditions of his conditional discharge, he is subject to being resentenced to one year in jail.

On March 23, 2025, NYS Trooper James Vlahakis pulled over a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the road in the Village of Stamford.  Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered on the driver, identified as Anastacio Ramirez, and indicated positive clues for intoxication when Ramirez failed to be able to stand up straight to perform the tests.  Ramirez admitted to the Trooper to having consumed alcohol.

District Attorney Smith commended the work of State Trooper Vlahakis on this case. “Impaired drivers cannot be tolerated on our roadways.  They are not only taking a risk to their own life but also risk the lives of so many innocent people.”
