DELHI – Carli Pinner, candidate for Delaware County Treasurer, has received a wave of influential endorsements from respected county leaders, including retiring Treasurer Beverly J. Shields, Budget Director and Finance Committee Chairman Art Merrill, and several other longtime public servants.

After more than 30 years of service, Treasurer Beverly Shields broke with tradition to make a rare public endorsement. “I don’t normally endorse a candidate—and I told myself I wouldn’t pick my replacement—but current circumstances have changed my mind,” she shared. “Carli Pinner shares the same commitment to serving the county departments, taxpayers and fellow citizens with integrity, responsibility, and understanding. I am proud to personally endorse her for County Treasurer.”

One of the most notable voices of fiscal responsibility in Delaware County, Art Merrill—Budget Director, Finance Committee Chairman, and Town of Colchester Supervisor—also strongly endorsed Pinner.

“Carli’s extensive knowledge of county financial systems, paired with her education, make her a qualified candidate,” Merrill said. “She has the professionalism and financial insight necessary to guide our county forward. Please join me in supporting Carli Pinner for Delaware County Treasurer.”

Known for his disciplined budgeting and years of keeping his community within the state’s 2 percent property tax cap, Merrill’s endorsement signals deep trust in Pinner’s ability to continue Delaware County’s tradition of strong fiscal management.

Other endorsements include:

· Denise VanDusen, retired Deputy Treasurer: “Carli’s insight, skill, and judgment are truly exceptional. Her experience working daily with the County Treasurer means a smooth transition—and a strong future.”

· Glenn Nealis,  “Carli is exactly what the next generation of leadership looks like. Her professionalism, dedication, and forward-thinking approach make her the right choice.”

· Michael Sabanski, retired Director of Real Property Tax Services: “Delaware County will benefit from Carli’s ability to work well with others, her fresh perspective, and her strong connection with emerging generations.”

Pinner currently serves as the Business Manager in the County’s Accounting Division and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Elmira College. She works closely with the Treasurer and has a deep understanding of the county’s financial systems, policies, and responsibilities.

“I am honored and humbled by the support of leaders I’ve worked with and learned from,” Pinner said. “Together, we share a commitment to responsible fiscal stewardship and service to the people of Delaware County.”
