Esperance (Schoharie County): Edson C. Lindsey 84, of Creekside Lane, Esperance, NY, passed away Tuesday, August 19th at the Glendale Home.
Mr. Lindsey was born November 21, 1940 in Potsdam, NY, a son of Edson R. and Mary Mabel (Russell) Lindsey. He graduated from St. Regis Falls High School, class of 1959 and later, enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He honorably served his country for the next 4 years stationed in Cherry Point, Japan, and Camp Lejune as a supply clerk. He returned home after his service in the Marines and worked at the Reynolds Metals plant doing maintenance service for 28 years. After retiring, Ed kept busy running his lawn care business and garbage route around the Esperance area. He loved coaching girls softball and watching games. Ed also enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, building cabinets for his family and friends, listening to country music, playing cards, hunting, and fishing.
He married Elaine E. (Rivers) Lindsey on March 16, 1963. She predeceased him on April 20, 2004. Survivors include: his son, Edson B. (Veronica) Lindsey of Schoharie, Tessa J. (Donald) Provost of Delanson, 7 grandchildren; Travis, Amber, Andrew, E. Morgan, Brittany, Kayla, and Krista, 16 great-grandchildren; Kayleigh, Mataiah, TJ, Cheyenne, Danica, Piper, Hailey, Carter, Lilly, Zackary, Maxwell, Samuel, Alexander, Olivia, Lena, and Bennett, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his siblings; Laura, Cecelia, Lawrence, Earl, Mae, Waterson, Rita, Kenneth, and Robert.
Calling hours will be held from 10AM to 12PM on Monday, August 25th at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main Street Schoharie followed by the funeral service at 12PM. Burial will follow in the Sloansville Valley Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Lindsey to shrinerschildrens.org OR to woundedwarriorproject.org
