MEREDITH — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced that an East Meredith resident is facing two counts of Menacing in the second degree following an investigation into a complaint filed by two NYSEG Utility workers.
On the evening of September 17th, 2025, NYSEG Utility workers were attempting to make electrical repairs at an address on Turnpike Road in the Town of Meredith. It was reported that prior to beginning work, they were allegedly confronted by Dylan M. Bassani, 43 years old, of East Meredith. During the confrontation it is alleged that Bassani displayed a shotgun in attempt to intimidate the workers.
On September 18th, 2025, the complainants filed their complaint with the Sheriff’s Office and Deputies began the investigation.
On September 19th, 2025, Sheriff’s Deputies applied for and were granted an Extreme Risk Protection Order through Delaware County Supreme Court.
On September 20th, 2025, Bassani was located and arrested at his residence and the firearm allegedly used in the incident was recovered.
Bassani was transported to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office for arrest processing and was later released on an appearance ticket. He is directed to appear before the Town of Meredith Court at a later date, to answer the charges.
