Few Surprises in Delaware County Elections

DELAWARE COUNTY–There were few surprises in Delaware e County election yesterday with a total of 10,006 ballots cast in the 55 reporting precincts.

Incumbent Craig S. DuMond, who was unopposed in his rebid for Delaware County Sheriff was re-elected by 7,512 votes with 192 write-ins.

The new Delaware County Treasurer will be Carli R. Pinner, who defeated Rhonda Williams 5,470 to 3,103 as incumbent treasurer Beverly Shield retires.

Ritchie Gabriel was unopposed in his run for Andes Town Supervisors, receiving 357 votes. Incumbent supervisor Wayland "Bud"Gladstone, won a seat on the town council along with R. Dale Cole. in a three-way race, defeating Dana A. Scuderi.

Tina M. Moshier was elected assessor with 313 votes. She was unchallenged and John R. Bouton was elected Superintendent of Highways.

Incumbent Tina Mole was re-elected as supervisor in the town of Bovina. She was unopposed, along with Catherine S. Hewitt, who was also re-elected town clerk. There was a four-way race for town council with Mark Rossley, 202;  and John A Ciccone, 144;   defeating John E. Salak, 139;  and Penelope Brackett, 109. 

A proposition to collect $40,00 separately from the town budget for Bovina Public Library was passed 174 to 128.

Edward F. Weber was unopposed and seated as Superintendent of Highways with 251 votes.

Tim Kelso, incumbent, was re-elected  with 312 votes. He was unchallenged. Jacklyn R. Losie and Norman A Schubert were elected to the town council, They were unchallenged. The open assessor seat received three write-in votes, but there were no candidates on the ballot.

The proposition to make the switch from three elected assessors to a single appointed assessor was defeated 208 to 161. Fred Utter, incumbent highway superintendent who was unchallenged, was returned to his seat with 303 votes.

A four-way race in the town of Delhi went to Daniel J. Gashier, 467 votes and Simon J. Purdy with 449 votes, over David C. Wakin with 408 votes and Mame Champlin who received 412 votes. Maya Boukai is the new supervisor with 696. She was unchallenged.

The town of Harpersfield had no challenges for two council seats and the town clerk position. Heidi R. Stevens was elected  with 181 votes, while Donna VanSickell and Dwayne Hill were seated on the council with 151 and 127 votes, respectively.

In the town of Kortright, Harry Craft will be the new superintendent of highways, defeating John Drake.  George E. Haynes Jr., who was unchallenged, was re-elected supervisor with 280 votes. Kristin Craft, who was unchallenged in her rebid for town clerk was re-elected with 303 votes. Chad Boest retained his seat on the town council with 245 votes. Steven G. Smith was also seated on the town council with 260 votes and Dianne Drake received 94 votes.

In the town of Middletown, Glen Faulkner was re-elected supervisor with 570 votes. He was unchallenged. For the town council Colleen Martin and Robin Williams were elected with 551 and 491 votes, respectively.

Roxbury voters elected Ralph Sprague as highway superintendent with 464 over Austin E.Sanford, with 142 votes.

Alan Hinkley was re-elected with 404 votes. Stefani Albano was elected town clerk with 435 votes. She had no challengers. Kennth Davie and Deanna Osborn were re-seated and Bonnie E. Walker defeated Marilyn L. Jamil 425 to 185 for tax collector.

Voters in the town of Stamford returned incumbent John Kosier to his seat as town supervisor with 239 votes over Doug McMullen's 132 votes. Debora Ballard and Jessica Watson were seated on the town council. They were unchallenged, Ballard with 266 votes and Watson with 187 votes. Daniel Miglianti won the bid for Superintendent of Highways with 235 votes over Kenneth Muthig received 144 votes.

Voters also defeated a proposition to move to an appointed highway superintendent rather than an elected highway superintendent 273 against to 126 in favor.
