CAIRO – On November 18, 2025 The Town of Cairo Police Dept had commenced an investigation into a reported missing persons case. As the investigation moved forward more resources were required and the Greene County Sheriff's Office assumed control of the case. Initially it was reported that Roger Pitt, Age 69 of Cairo, had gathered his belongings and left the area in his 1987 Mercedes Benz. The initial reports made by members of Mr. Pitt's family were not consistent with the findings of investigators and resulted in the execution of several search warrants during which the remains of Roger Pitt were found on his property. Thus far The Sheriff's Office has charged Rodney Pitt, age 46, and Drew White, age 23, both of Cairo. with Murder in the 2nd degree, Conspiracy 2nd degree, Tampering With Physical Evidence, and Concealment of a Human Corpse. Tania Pitt, age 43, also of Cairo, N.Y. was charged with Tampering With Physical Evidence and Conspiracy in the 6th degree. All three subjects were arraigned before Judge Dorpfeld, Town of Coxsackie Court. Rodney Pitt and Drew White were committed to the Greene County Jail with no bail and Tania Pitt was released to appear at a later date. The Greene County Sheriff's Office and the Cairo Police Dept were assisted by the New York State Police and The Greene
