STAMFORD - Laurens/Milford (L/M) Varsity defeated the Margaretville girls 54-32 in the Stamford/Jefferson Christmas Tournament opener Monday.

Senior Kyrah Andrades led L/M in scoring with 19 buckets. Teammate Bella Garlic contributed 15 points and Kelsey Cox netted 14 points, respectively.

For the Blue Devils, Mackenzie Hubbell tallied eight points in the loss.

According to L/M’s Coach Jim Weir, who heads the team with fellow coach Andy Carr, he was overall pleased with how his squad performed.

“I thought we did okay considering we haven’t played in 12 days,” he said. “Kyrah Andrades and Kelsey Cox were the scorers for us offensively.”

Defensively, Weir added that Andrades is also a force.

“She makes things happen,” he said.

L/M will play Stamford/Jefferson in the tournament championship Tuesday (not available at press time).
