Oneonta, N.Y. – A. O. Fox Auxiliary has named Morgan Boldt of Smyrna, NY and Megan Scriver of South New Berlin as the recipients of the 2021 Joanne Burdick Scholarships. The $2,000 awards will help them pursue majors in the health care field.
Boldt graduated from Sherburne-Earlville Central School on June 26. She starts her college studies this fall at Le Moyne College in Syracuse with plans to become a physician assistant.
Scriver graduated from Unadilla Valley Central School on June 26. She will be attending Elmira College in the fall where she will begin working towards becoming a registered nurse.
Joanne Burdick Scholarships recipients are chosen each year based on academic achievement, community service, interests and financial need. The A. O. Fox Auxiliary established the scholarship in 1997 to honor Joanne Burdick’s first ten years of service as the director of volunteer services for the hospital. Burdick continued in the position for 17 more years until her retirement in 2014.
“I am always honored and humbled by this annual award in my name,” says Burdick, “but never more than this year. This scholarship has assisted fifty-plus health care professionals over the years. They have gone on to be essential workers and heroes during this pandemic. I couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.”
