Waterville, Me.: The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announced today that SUNY Cobleskill first year catcher/designated hitter Logan Hutter, Smithtown, N.Y., Smithtown West High School, has been named the conference’s 2022 NAC Baseball Rookie-of-the-Year. The first year receiver becomes the first player in program history to earn NAC Baseball Rookie-of-the-Year honors after being named to All-NAC Western Division Team during the season earning the league’s Rookie-of-the-Week three times during the year.
The catcher/designated hitter enjoyed an impressive rookie campaign wearing Orange & Black batting .355 going 44-of-124 on the year in 37 games compiling a .420 on-base percentage. The Smithtown, N.Y. native tallied 13 doubles and five home runs driving in 32 runs and scoring 29 times while showing good instincts on the bases going 10-for-11 in stolen base attempts.
According to Fighting Tiger Head Coach Lance Ratchford, "Logan had an incredible freshman year and enjoy much success at the plate and behind the plate. He arguably had one of the best freshman years in the country at a position that is one of the toughest to play. His future is bright, and we are excited for what's in store for him next season."
