Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill athletic department announced today that Hailee Herc has been named the Fighting Tigers’ interim head coach for the 2022 season. Herc joined the program in the spring of 2022 under head coach Scott Hill who guided the team to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Western Division Championship in 2021. Hill, an Associate Professor in the Department of Sport & Exercise will be expanding his role in terms of program design and teaching.

The new Fighting Tiger head coach is looking forward to taking over the program and the upcoming campaign.

“I am excited after the season we had last year for the opportunity to work with the talented players we have returning and the new recruits that we have. I hope that I can add value and knowledge that will help us reach for a NAC Championship.”

The Eden, N.Y. native had previously coached at Eden High School from 2017-to-2022 compiling an 89-19 overall record including a 49-1 mark with the Raiders leading the program to five Section VI Class C Championships directing the program while simultaneously leading the Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club to USA Volleyball National Championship Tournament five times.

From 2014 to 2017 Herc served as an assistant women’s volleyball coach at SUNY Cortland including a stint in 2017 as the program’s interim head coach. During her time with the Red Dragons the program posted a 71-49 overall record.

An outstanding player during her college and high school days, Herc played her collegiate volleyball at the Division I level for Stony Brook University where in four seasons she appeared in 325 sets recording 768 digs and 118 aces as a defensive specialist/libero after an outstanding prep career at Eden High School leading the program to four Section VI Class C Championships, four appearances in the finals of the New York State Championship Tournament at the 2009 New York State Class C Championship earning both First Team All-Western New York Team honors and All-New York State Team honors in 2009.

The Fighting Tiger new mentor earned her Master's of Education degree from SUNY Cortland in 2017 and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Stony Brook University in 2014.

Cobleskill will open the 2022 season on Friday September 2 when the team travels to Bethlehem, Pa. for the 2022 Greyhound Premiere Invitational hosted by Moravian University. The Fighting Tigers will meet Baruch College in the tournament opener at 5:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. match versus the host Greyhounds of Moravian at 7:00 p.m. The team will then close out the event by taking on Olivet College on Saturday September 3 at 10:00 a.m.
