DELHI — The Lost Bookshop will host Fezziwig’s Ball on Saturday, November 25th at 5PM at the bookstore at 120 Main St. in Delhi, a celebration of books and the holiday season. (Fezziwig is a character in Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.)  The event will kick off with local actor Phil Stockton performing the opening pages of Charles Dickens’s classic Christmas story.

The event is inspired by and in memory of owner Emily Helck’s father, Tim Helck. “One of my earliest memories of my dad is him reading A Christmas Carol aloud to me. He’s a huge part of why I love books.” Helck’s father died unexpectedly shortly after Christmas in 2021.

“After my dad died, I revisited A Christmas Carol for the first time as an adult. I was surprised, first, by how funny it is. There are a ton of jokes, and they absolutely land for modern readers. The story is also more complex and nuanced than the version we often see over and over this time of year. I’m really excited to share it with our community at the bookstore.”

After the performance, visitors are invited to enjoy hot chocolate and other holiday treats in the store.
