SHARON SPRINGS — The Sharon Historical Society is holding a special fundraiser to cover the cost of operating expenses. The goal by the end of the year is $10,000. The Society said that the money would be used for expenses such as insurance, electricity, water, sewer, security, internet, and the printing cost of their newsletter.
The fund drive comes at the tail end of a year of great growth for the society, in large part due to the aid of community philanthropist Nick Juried and volunteers. The Society purched the Ganz House near its historic village, which will be its future three-story museum.
Society President Ron Ketelsen said that, "it costs us at least $10,000 a year just to run the museum. We would like to raise these funds now, so we can go into 2024 knowing that these expenses will be covered. Our past and future depend on it! Any amount you can donate will help."
For more information or to donate to the drive, write to the Sharon Historical Society / PO BOx 363 / Sharon Springs NY 13459.
