S/J and Charlotte Valley Have Single Losses in Early Season Play

DELAWARE LEAGUE – Stamford/Jefferson and Charlotte Valley top the standings in the early season, each with a single loss.

The Hunter-Tannersville Lady Wildcats fell to host Saugerties, 78-21, in the championship game of the annual Saugerties Tourney on Saturday. Emma Constable led scoring for H-T with eight points and six rebounds, while teammate Saleema Poladian added seven and six and Julia Legg contributed 4 and six. They defeated Rhinebeck 29-21 on Friday to win their seat in the championship. Legg led that charge with 11 points, Poladian added six points and pulled down 11 rebounds and Constable chimed in with five points and 11 rebounds in the win.

Roxbury defeated Margaretville 23-16 in a non-league meeting last Friday. Kendra Balcom led the Lady Rockets with nine points and Mikayla Wright added seven points and 13 rebounds. For the Lady Blue Devils, Livy Fronckowiak scored six points.

The South Kortright Lady Rams picked up a 61-19 non-league win over Gilboa/Windham last Friday. Addy Ekert struck for 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead scoring, while teammate Carlee Dropp added another 16 points in double figures and pulled down seven rebounds. Hannah Ransford added 14 more points and she drained three three-point buckets in the win. For G/W Ashtyn Hansen led scoring with 15 points.

Charlotte Valley defeated Roxbury 52-20 in a non-league game last Thursday. Kailey Whitbeck led the way with 20 points and Ella Gerster fired in another 14 points in double figures. For Roxbury, Rayleigh Goodchild led scoring with nine points.

On Tuesday, the Lady Wildcats defeated Margaretville 55-17 in a non-league game. Jessica Zuill and Ella Gerster led the way with 14 points each and Whitbeck chimed in seven more. For Margaretville, Ana Gavette scored 10 points.

Also on Tuesday, Walton/Downsville fell to non-league Greene 60-30. Grace Walley led W/D with 11 points.
