SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Weekly Recap

COBLEKSILL — The SUNY Cobleskill women’s basketball team extended their season opening winning streak to seven games with three victories during the week to improve to 7-0 overall on the year including a 2-0 record in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action. On Monday the Fighting Tigers posted 68-51 non-league road win over the Gators of Russell Sage College prior to defeating the Lions of Eastern Nazarene College on Tuesday in Quincy, Mass in conference action by an 86-45 tally prior to closing the week on Saturday with a 70-32 conference home victory over the Mustangs of Morrisville State College. Senior center Logan Thayne, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Hoosick Falls High School, led the way for the team averaging 17.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 1.0 assists and 0.7 steals per game while shooting 53.7% from the field connecting on 22-of-41 field goal attempts including 33.3% from three-point range going 3-for-9 on the week.

The Fighting Tiger men’s basketball team split a pair of NAC contests during the week defeating the host Lions of Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass by a 90-77 margin before returning home on Saturday to lose to the Mustangs of Morrisville State College 84-72 to move to 4-5 overall including a 1-1 record in conference action. Sophomore guard Kobe Long, Rochester, N.Y., McQuaid Jesuit High School, averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game during the week.

Senior distance runner Nick Logan, Queensbury, N.Y., Queensbury High School, was the Fighting Tiger men’s indoor track & field teams’ top finisher at the 2023 Greg Page Relays hosted by Cornell University at Barton Hall in Ithaca, N.Y. on Saturday. Logan won the Mile Run in an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Indoor Championships qualifying time of 4:22.57.

First-year distance runner Lilianna Peters, Hinsdale, N.Y., Allegany-Limestone High School, was the Fighting Tiger women’s indoor track & field teams’ top finisher at the 2023 Greg Page Relays on Saturday hosted by Cornell University at Barton Hall in Ithaca, N.Y. Peters placed fifth overall in the Mile Run with a time of 5:42.22.
