COOPERSTOWN — The Cooperstown Winter Carnival returns this February 1-4th with tons of community fun and cheer! There is a full schedule of events so mark your calendar for this exciting weekend to create memories with the whole family!

Thursday, February 1st through Sunday, February 4th, there are activities, events, live music, competitions, sales, fundraisers, and so much more happening all over Cooperstown for the 56th annual Cooperstown Winter Carnival. The kickoff event starts at The Otesaga Hotel & Resort on the evening of Thursday, February 1st with hot cocoa, fireworks, and something for everyone!

On Friday look out for competitions at the Clark Sports Center, Library Book Sale, local business specials, and a Free Family Movie Night to just name a few!

On Saturday, there is even more with highlights including the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast, sledding at Lake Front Park, Village Scavenger Hunt, Rotary’s Frosty Fling, Bob Smullins 5K/10K race, Fenimore Quilt Club Show, and more!

On Sunday, February 4th, for the final day of the Carnival, there are activities all day with the  Blizzard Bash, a tailgate party in the Double Day Field Parking lot from 3:00 - 5:00 PM. Expect face painting, prize winning games, a pie eating contest, a fun bouncy house, and a visit from the adorable baby goats at NY Goat Yoga. There will also be a bonfire and warming station with music provided by DJ Raphael and food available to purchase from Brewery Ommegang’s food truck. To wrap up this fantastic community event, there will be a mesmerizing Tesla Car Light Show that will “transform vehicles into a captivating mobile spectacle, featuring synchronized and choreographed light sequences using headlights, taillights, and interior lights to create a visually stunning performance”.

This year, the Winter Carnival has raised money through ‘Zuzu’s Treasure Trove January Calendar Raffle’, in which participants pre-purchased tickets for a raffle to take place on each day in January leading up to the event! So far the winners have been announced on Facebook each day!

The Cooperstown Winter Carnival mission is to “bring light and laughter into the days of winter by getting out, connecting with the community, and celebrating local organizations and businesses”.

This festive event was first started in 1967 by local residents and has continued to grow and evolve with the community ever since.

The Winter Carnival is sponsored by the Lions Club of Cooperstown, Bassett Healthcare Network, Leatherstocking Credit Union, and Optum. The festival is made possible by the Winter Carnival Committee and all the additional sponsors and volunteers.
