SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Weekly Recap

The SUNY Cobleskill women’s basketball team extended their current winning streak to six games after posting a pair of non-conference wins during the week defeating the visiting Hawks of Hartwick College on Friday evening by a 61-49 margin then traveling to Brooklyn, N.Y. on Saturday to defeat the Cannoneers of the Pratt Institute 84-28. With the wins the Fighting Tigers improve to 16-1 overall and lead the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Western Division with a perfect 7-0 record. Senior center Logan Thayne, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Hoosick Falls High School, led the way for the Orange & Black averaging 15.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots per game in the victories.

The Fighting Tiger men’s basketball team took to the road on Saturday to defeat the host Broncos of SUNY Delhi 76-67 in league play to improve to 11-7 overall on the year including a 5-2 record versus NAC opponents. Sophomore point guard Quanire Greene, Albany, N.Y., Bishop Maginn High School, came of the bench to score a season high of 14 points in the win.

Fighting Tiger freshman distance runner Lilianna Peters, Hinsdale, N.Y., Allegany-Limestone High School, posted a win in the 3000-meter run for the indoor track & field team at the 2024 Hamilton College Indoor Invitational in Clinton, N.Y. on Friday afternoon. Peters posted a time of 11:17.29 to better the field then came back to place second overall in the mile run with a time of 5:39.63 at the non-scoring event.

The men’s indoor track & field team opened the 2024 portion of their schedule on Friday afternoon traveling to Clinton, N.Y. to compete at the Hamilton College Indoor Invitational a non-scoring qualifying event. Freshman jumper Thomas Herberger, Avon, N.Y., Avon High School, turned in the Fighting Tigers best individual effort at the event winning the triple jump with a mark of 41’8 ¾” and the high jump by clearing 5’9 ¾”.
