COBLESKILL — At the Jan. 8 town board meeting, Cobleskill Supervisor Hampel discussed the Dog Pound Agreement between the Town of Cobleskill and several other towns in the area.
The agreement will be with the Town of Sharon, Town of Richmondville, Town of Summit, and Town of Seward – under Jillian Smith’s supervision.
Jillian Smith is the Dog Control Officer for the Town of Cobleskill and the other towns mentioned.
The dog pound will also be available to the Town of Blenheim under the supervision of Joe Derma, Dog Control Officer. The contract is a one-year contract and ends December 31, 2023, but is renewable if both parties agree. Each Town is responsible through its Dog Control Officer for cleaning, feeding, and medical treatment for the animals. If the owner isn’t found, the dog will be placed with Schoharie Valley Animal Shelter by the DCO and the respective Town will be charged $100 by the Schoharie Valley Animal Shelter.
The shelter has been renovated and heat and electricity as well as water is available. Each Town involved will be charged $300 for shelter Fees this year.
