The Roxbury Arts Group Announces Ustad Shafaat Khan

The Roxbury Arts group is proud to welcome world renowned Indian classical musician Ustad Shafaat Khan who will be performing a concert on Friday, February 2nd at 6:30 PM at the Headwaters Arts Center, 66 Main St in Stamford, NY. Performing on the Sitar, the Tabla and Surbahar, Ustad Shafaat Khan has shared stages with Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder and has performed worldwide. Called “Absolutely superb” by the Times of London, Ustad Shafaat Khan is an 8th generation Indian classical musician who has performed globally. He is notable for his excellence on three classic instruments: the Tabla, a classical drum used across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka; the Sitar, a Hindustani plucked string instrument; and the Surbahar, a bass sitar that was invented by Mr. Khan’s great-great-grandfather.

The concert at the Headwaters Arts Center on Friday, February 2nd will feature Ustad Shafaat Khan performing a duet of Indian and Western drumming with English percussionist Tim Arnold, as well as classical/folk inspired compositions accompanied by Mr. Arnold.
