Schoharie County Launches Comprehensive Housing Conditions Assessment

Written By The Mountain Eagle on 3/16/24 | 3/16/24

Schoharie – The Schoharie County Housing Committee is pleased to announce the initiation of a targeted building condition assessment, marking a significant milestone in the larger Schoharie County Housing Study. The study's objective is to furnish a comprehensive overview of the current housing inventory, anticipate population growth and subsequent housing demand, discern market trends, identify unmet needs, and formulate a strategic approach to address these challenges.

Scheduled to commence in the second week of March, the housing conditions survey will extend throughout the remainder of the month, with a focus on the following representative communities crucial for understanding Schoharie County's housing landscape:

Village of Cobleskill

Town of Blenheim

Village of Sharon Springs

Village of Middleburgh

Town of Conesville

Village of Schoharie

Surveyors will be conducting assessments directly from the roadway, utilizing slow-moving vehicles clearly marked as "Flatley Read." This approach ensures a higher number of homes undergo assessment for housing conditions, facilitating a more comprehensive data collection process.

For any inquiries related to the building condition assessment or the housing study itself, please reach out to Shane Nickle at 518-295-8770 or via email at nickle.shane@co.schoharie.ny.us.

The Schoharie County Housing Committee expresses gratitude to the community for its support as we embark on this endeavor.
