Walton – Today, Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the arrest of a Walton man on Criminal Mischief and Trespass charges.

On the morning of March 18th, 2024, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a trespass complaint in the Village of Walton.

During the course of the investigation, Sheriff’s Deputies identified the suspect as John Mahler, age 36 of Walton, NY.

Upon conclusion of the investigation, it was discovered that Mahler broke the property of another person and gained entry into a locked basement where he had no permission to be located.

Deputies subsequently arrested and charged Mahler with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor and trespass, a violation of the New York State Penal Law.

In accordance with NYS Bail Reform Legislation, Mahler was processed and released on appearance tickets, returnable at a later date to the Village of Walton Court.
