The defendant appeared in Delaware County Court on April 22, 2024, for an arraignment on the charge. District Attorney Shawn Smith commended New York State Police Investigator James Williams and New York State Trooper Brandon Schubert for their thorough investigative work in this case that led to the admittance of guilt. “These types of cases are difficult to hear about and it’s hard to accept that people in our community can commit these crimes.” Smith further stated, “It is extremely important to our office that everyone is held accountable for their illegal actions and this offender is no exception to that. We aim to keep the community, and especially the children of it, safe.”
As are all persons accused of a crime, this defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
