COBLESKILL — The Joshua Project hopes to begin its new venture with a retail-style location including an office, freezer, and refrigerated area.  This building will be located on Route 145 in East Cobleskill.  The Town of Cobleskill planning board will hopefully approve the building site plan.  There will be a public hearing soon. The next task is to come up with the money to finance the project.

People helping People across Schoharie County is the main focus of the Joshua Project. The Joshua Project is a non-profit group of faith-based volunteers who strive to help the neediest in the community and make the common good a reality.  They do several charitable collaborations such as Coats for Kids, and the Summer Backpack Program (filled with food for needy children during the summer), funded by the United Way. They provide summer lunches in coordination with Middleburgh Central School, Cobleskill United Methodist Church, Richmondville United Methodist Church, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Central Bridge. The lunches are free and open to the public.

The Joshua Project is also involved in the Schoharie County Meals Program which delivers meals daily working with the Schoharie County Office of the Aging.  The Joshua Project sets funds aside to help families to provide financial assistance for short-term relief. Furniture, household items, and donations are greatly appreciated.  They also sponsor the Adopt-a-Family Program to help families for Christmas.

The Joshua Project is looking forward to having a permanent location. If you have time to spare, please reach out to the Joshua Project. Volunteers are needed for this wonderful cause.  Please call 518-937-2422 or go online to their website at joshuaschoharie.org or email: joshuafoundation1@gmail.com
