Coffeehouse at the Walton Theatre

Written By The Mountain Eagle on 8/23/24 | 8/23/24

WALTON – Music on the Delaware opens its 2024-25 Coffeehouse season with the Helderberg Hot Club on September 15, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Walton Theatre.

The Helderberg Hot Club is a Django-style jazz manouche ensemble based in the Capital District. Repertoire includes tunes from the American Songbook and Tin Pan Alley along with swing standards and jump blues. Often called Gypsy Jazz, it is an ebullient, accessible style of music made popular by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in 1930s Paris. Members of the Helderberg Hot Club include John Whitbread on guitar and vocals, Adam Payne on guitar, and bassist David Howe, with guests Steven Horowitz on trumpet and clarinetist Robin Seletsky.

Music on the Delaware Coffeehouse concerts occur on the third Sunday of the month from September-November and January-May in the Andrea Retz Paternoster room of the Walton Theatre. Concerts are free, desserts and drinks are served, and donations to Music on the Delaware are gratefully accepted.

Additional fall coffeehouse concerts will feature two singer/songwriters. On October 20, we welcome Albany area Kate McDonnell to the theatre, and on November 17, Delhi resident Sloan Wainwright.

See www.musiconthedelaware.org for all 2024-25 Main Stage and Coffeehouse events.
