Staff Report

MIDDLEBURGH - The popular "Lights in the Park" will not be returning to Middleburgh this Christmas season.

The Middleburgh Rotary announced this week that they will no longer be staging their “Lights in the Park” display in Timothy Murphy Park this December

It was a club decision, and was not made lightly, members said. "We are at a point of needing to look at what projects we can offer with the small group of Rotarians who are able and willing to assist. Most community organizations are experiencing similar challenges, and we’re being proactive so we don’t burnout the people who are active in every event!

"We’re very thankful for everyone who has supported this event over the years! Mrs. Claus is happy too, since this means that Santa will be home a few extra weekends in December!

Rotary members said they have other ideas "up our sleeves," but need village approval first. When they are approved, the Rotary will make an announcement.
