DELHI – District Attorney Shawn J. Smith announced that the Delaware County Grand Jury returned a four-count indictment against Darcee Lewis, 41, of Oxford, New York. Ms. Lewis was indicted for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, both Class A Misdemeanors.
On August 14, 2024, a search warrant was executed by the Village of Sidney Police at a residence in the Village of Sidney based on information provided by New York State Parole Officers. Upon searching the residence, officers located narcotics and drug paraphernalia, among other items. The defendant, a resident of the address, is accused of possessing methamphetamine, fentanyl, along with scales, loaded needles, and packing materials. It’s alleged Ms. Lewis possessed these items with the intent to sell.
Darcee Lewis was arraigned by the Honorable John L. Hubbard, Delaware County Court Judge. After hearing arguments from both the District Attorney’s Office and the defense, Judge Hubbard set bail at $25,000 cash and $50,000 bond.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Richard D. Northrup Jr. presented the case to the Grand Jury. District Attorney Shawn Smith commended Sidney Police Officer Royce Terry for his work on this case.
Indictments and Criminal Complaints are allegations, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
