Anthony “Tony” P. Hoos of State Route 20, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at home in the loving care of his family.
Born 70 years ago on September 14, 1954 in Cobleskill to Caroline (Mahar) and Andrew Hoos, Tony was life-long area resident. He worked at NAPA, Flynn’s Auto, Dixie Cement
and 19 years with the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Department as Supervisor of Work Detail
and a Deputy Sheriff before retiring.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Central Bridge, the Richmondville Fish and Game Club and a previous member of the Carlisle Fire Department, where he met Kristy (Barber) whom he married and shared 32 years of life and love with.
Tony was never far from a mechanical project around home and his talents also included woodworking, leather working and baking too. Cheesecakes were his specialty. And while his love for all of his animals was well known over the years, from dogs to rabbits and others, above everything else, spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter and grand-dog was the greatest joy for him.
Along with his wife Kristy, Tony will be loved forever by his daughters: Katryna Lawyer (Tyler Lawyer), Karoline Hoos and Kimberlee Hoos (fiancé Kyle Wells); his granddaughter: Liliana Lawyer; his sisters: Andrea More (Wes More) and Catherine Warner; and his mother-in-law: Shirley Barber. Tony was predeceased by his parents, his brother-in-law: John Warner and his father-in-law: Calvert Barber.
A Memorial service will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday January 25, 2025 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC 134 River Street, Middleburgh, NY 12122. All are invited to visit with Tony’s family from 10:00AM-12:00PM prior to the service. Spring inurnment will be in the Carlisle Cemetery.
