Obituary - Constance Cherie Clapper

Constance Cherie Clapper was born on August 16, 1932 to Viola Schriner and Walter Beadling in Pine Hill, New Jersey. She passed away at the age of 92, on December 22, 2025 with her family by her side. 

She is survived by her sister: Fern Beadling of North Carolina; her daughters: Marlene (Ed) Jorgensen of West Fulton, Laurel Clapper of Maine and Jane Ann Barton-Lemery (Michael) of Florida. She also has several cousins, nieces and nephews, her special friends: Boris and Katharine McGiver, Rebecca Brown, Becky and Eddie Noxon and Barbara Hullings. She was predeceased by her sister and four brothers.

Cherie, as she preferred to be called, was involved in many community organizations many as a life member including the MCS Alumni Association, American Red Cross, member and treasurer of the West Fulton Fire Department, and President of the Auxiliary there, ADK, representative on the Schoharie County Youth Bureau, Joint Recreation Commission, Friends of Mine Kill, Vroman’s Nose Association, Long Path North Hiking Club, and the Town of Fulton Historical Society.  Hiking was her passion as long as she was able. She hiked locally, the White Mountains in New Hampshire and one of her most memorable hikes was through the Grand Canyon.  She also enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Cherie’s wishes were for no formal service and a request that memorial donations be sent in her honor to the Long Path Hiking Club, PO Box 855 Schoharie NY 12157.
