SK/A Boys Claim Grasso Tournament Title

DELAWARE LEAGUE - The South Kortright/Andes boys varsity team claimed the title of the annual Pat Grasso Basketball Tournament in Laurens over the weekend and Roxbury/Gilboa finished third in the tournament.

Boston Quarino led the way for the Rams in last Saturday's championship, scoring the game high of 40 points, six baskets from three-point range and earning tournament MVP honors. Parker Popp chimed in another 12 points, with Lance McClure and Jack Byrne adding 10 points each. Skylar McIntyre was also named to the all tournament team.

RoxburtGilboa defeated host Laurens/Milford 49-39 in the consolation round. GCR poured on in the final quarter to come from behind, outscoring L/M 21-7 to earn the win. Jordan Johnston scored 13 points to lead the charge and Cody Ciaravino added nine points to the win. Johnston was named to the all-tournament team. 

SK/A defeated GCR in the opening round of the tournament, 6-35. Parker Popp led the way in that victory with 14 points as he netted four from three-point land. JB Trimbell added another 12 points in double figures and Jack Byrne added eight points. Garrison Ross led GCR scoring with six points.

In action on Tuesday, Margaretville defeated Hunter-Tannersville 78-37 in league play. Connor Wayman led the way for the Blue Devils with 25 points and Hunter Balcom added another 21 points with Ryan Sanford also chipping in 11 points in double figures. Grady Maul  was the high man for H-T with nine points, Dustin Falke added eight, Chase Zimmer added seven points and Donovan Garcia scored six points.

Jefferson/Stamford squeezed by Gilboa/Roxbury 32-30 on Tuesday. Patrick Terk scored 12 points to lead scoring on the night, with Gavin VanEtten chipping in another nine points for J/S.GCR got eight points from Cody Ciaravino. VanEtten tipped the scale with 10 seconds to go in the game to give J/S the league victory.

Charlotte Valley got by Windham 46-43 to claim a league win on Tuesday. Darrion Matz led the Wildcats with 14 points and teammates Simon Cowles and Cole Whitbeck each chimed in another 10 points in double figures. Windham's Jacob Schwartz scored the game high of 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
