UTICA — The SUNY Cobleskill men’s indoor track and field team took to the track on Saturday at the Blue and Orange Invitational host at Utica University.
In the distance races, Nik Recore (Peru, NY) led the Tigers in the 3000m, finishing 54th with a time of 9:29.57. Estaban Delgado (New Rochelle, NY) and Daniel Jaffin (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) competed in the 5000m, placing 29th (18:26.12) and 30th (18:40.59), respectively. Recore also ran in the mile, securing third in his heat with a time of 4:54.16, while Jaffin placed 68th overall in 5:34.83.
In the sprints and hurdles, Kameron Cusmano (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) placed 23rd in the 60m hurdles prelims with a time of 9.23, while Zachary Russell finished 34th in 9.74. In the 60m prelims, Gregory McDonald (Wells, ME) placed 53rd overall with a time of 7.40, while Quinn Service won his heat in 7.77, finishing 108th overall. Service also competed in the 200m, placing 109th in 26.06, followed by Riley Mainville (Leominster, MA) in 121st with a time of 27.00. In the 400m, Charlie Cooper (Connetquot, NY) clocked in at 1:04.72 to finish 54th.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Service, McDonald, Cooper, and Antonio Gonzalez placed ninth.
In the jumps, Thomas Herberger (Avon, NY) was the Tigers top finisher as he placed eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.73m (41-9 ¼). Cusmano finished 24th in the high jump with a mark of 1.62m (5-3 ¾), while McDonald (5.68m/18-7 ¾) and Service (5.57m/18-3 ¼) placed 43rd and 49th in the long jump, respectively.
In the throws, Cal Marks (Wellsburg, NY/Elmira) led the Tigers with a 46th-place finish in the weight throw at 12.06m (39-6 ¾) and a 40th-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 10.81m (35-5 ¾).
The Tigers will return to action on February 15 at the Kane Invitational, hosted by Cornell University.
