Margaretville Wins the Battle of Unbeatens

DELAWARE LEAGUE  – The Margaretville Blue Devils defeated South Kortright/Andes 57-44 to win the battle of the unbeatens and claim first place in the Delaware League on the road in South Kortright.  Ryan Sanford fired in 27 points to lead the cause as he sank six baskets from three-point land and teammate Hunter Balcom chimed in another 14 points in double figures to help the cause. Parker Popp led SK with 12 points on the night and teammates JB Trimbell and Lance McClure added nine points each. 

Margaretville finishes undefeated in league play at 6-0 and is 14-2 on the season. SK/A is now 5-1 and 11-7 on the season. There are just a few more games remaining heading into the playoff rounds that start on Feb 11 and culminate with the league championship game set for Feb. 20 at SUNY Delhi.

Gilboa/Roxbury picked up a 71-38 league win over Windham in action on Tuesday. Blake Albano led the charge with 14 points  and teammate Cole Hamil chimed in 13 points as he bucketed a trio of three-pointers. Jordan Johnston also contributed 12 points in double figures to the win. For WAJ, Owen Pellettieri scored 13 points and teammate Jacob Schwartz added eight points.

Jefferson/Stamford defeated non-league Sharon Springs 58-42 on Tuesday. Pat Terk led S/J scoring  with 17 points, while Gavin VanEtten chimed in 12 and Max Eisel contributed 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Michael Cashman was the high scorer on the night for Sharon Springs with 27 points and his teammate, John Mercado added 12 more in double figures.

Schenevus defeated Charlotte Valley 62-50 in a non-league pairing on Tuesday. Jaleel Thomas led CVCS with seven points and teammate Simon Cowles had 11 assists.

Gilboa/Roxbury defeated Hunter-Tannersville 51-30 in a non-league game on Monday. John DeWitt led the way for GCR with a game high of 14 points. teammates Jordan Johnstson and Blake Albano added another nine points each. Gideon Glennon scored nine points to lead H-T and pulled down six rebounds, with teammate Chase Zimmer adding seven points and eight rebounds.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton defeated Jefferson/Stamford ini a close 40-38 non league clash. Noah Pain led GMU with a game high of 24 points. Leland Donato-Williamson led J/S scoring with 14 points on the night and teammate Pat Terk chimed in another 11 points in double figures.

Windham defeated non league Laurens/Milford 54-45 in Monday's action. Jacob Schwart scored the game high of 24 points and pulled down 18 rebounds to Lead WAJ and teammate Payton Dempsey chimed in another 16 points as he connected on four three-pointers. Owen Pelletieri contributed 14 rebounds to the win.

South Kortright/Andes defeated Charlotte Valley 63-49 last Friday to pick a league win. Parker Popp led the way with 21 points as he connected on five three-point buckets. Lance McClure chimed in another 15 points to the win. Charlotte Valley was led by Cole Whitbeck's 19 points and Jaleel Thomas's 15-point effort.

Jefferson/Stamford defeated Windham 58-38 for a league win last Friday. Gavin VanEtten led the charge with  23 points, while Pat Terk chimed in 15 more in double figures and dished off seven assists. Jacob Schwartz and Christian Greene led Windham with eight points each.
