DELAWARE LEAGUE – Two local basketball standouts were named to the New York State Sportswriters Association's All-State First Team. The selections were announced by theNYSSWA on Monday.
Addy Eckert, a member of the South Kortright/Andes sectional championship team was tapped, along with McKenna Hoyt, who helped lead her Stamford/Jefferson team into sectional play this season. Eckert graduates this year from South Kortright, while Hoyt will return to the court next year. Both players achieved 1,000-point milestones this season.
Also named by the NYSSWA was Caitlyn Deysenroth, as a third team selection. She is also a member of the SK/A team and will be graduating this year.
Charlotte Valley's Brinlee Wright was a tenth team selection. A junior, she will return to the court next season.
The player of the year in Class D was Emeline Barton, of LaFargeville.
In boys basketball, Margaretville Hunter Balcom , a senior, was named to the Fourth team and his teammate Connor Wayman, also a senior, was named to the Fifth team.
