Written By The Mountain Eagle on 4/17/24 | 4/17/24

Meredith – Today, Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced that a Delhi resident is facing the charge of Aggravated Unlicensed Operator of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree as well as other violations following an accident investigation in the Town of Meredith.

On the morning of April 6th, 2024, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an iPhone Crash Detection for a motor vehicle accident on State Highway 28 in the Town of Meredith.  Upon arrival on scene, Deputies found that there was in fact a serious motor vehicle accident with minor injuries.  Two of the occupants, including the driver, were transported for non-life-threatening injuries to be treated at a local hospital while the other two passengers were treated on scene by EMS.  During the accident investigation, Deputies identified the driver as 24-year-old male, Kelvin K. Marfo, of Delhi, NY.  Upon a DMV check of Marfo’s driver’s license, it was found that his driving privileges in New York were suspended for Failing to Answer a Summons out of Kings County, NY.

Marfo was subsequently arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the Third Degree, an unclassified misdemeanor, Unlicensed Operator, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, moved from the Lane Unsafely, and an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, which are Violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Marfo was issued Traffic Summons, and an Appearance Ticket to appear before the Town of Meredith Court at a later date to answer the charges.
