Oneonta Resident Arrested on Warrant

Delhi – Today, Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced that a Oneonta, NY resident has been arrested on an Arrest Warrant for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the Third Degree, Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Registration is suspended, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle while license was suspended, and an Obstructed License Plate on charges stemming from a traffic stop investigation that occurred on April 1st, 2024.

In the early morning of, May 29th, 2024, Sheriff’s Deputies received notification from members of the New York State Police that they had 29-year-old Mercedes J. Torres in custody for charges following a traffic stop and for an Arrest Warrant stemming from a traffic stop investigation within Delaware County in the Town of Davenport.  Torres was subsequently arrested and processed by NYSP prior to being turned over to Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Deputies for the Arrest Warrant.  

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Deputies subsequently met with the NYSP Troopers and took custody of Torres.  Torres was booked into the Delaware County Jail for the Arrest Warrant for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the Third Degree, Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Registration is suspended, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle while license was suspended, and an Obstructed License Plate and is awaiting arraignment in the Central Arraignment Process.
