SUNY COBLESKILL MEN’S GOLF RANKED SIXTH IN 2023 NAC PRE-CHAMPIONSHIP POLL

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men’s golf team has been ranked sixth overall among a field of 11 teams in the North Atlantic Conference’s (NAC) 2023 Pre-Championship Poll by the league’s coaches. The Fighting Tigers have posted a second place and a pair of third place finishes in five events this season.

 

According to Head Coach Megan Bowman the Fighting Tigers are looking forward to their trip north and believes that her squad if primed for a successful weekend.

 

“We are excited to travel north to Canton this weekend and compete in our third NAC golf championship event. Each year within the conference we have added to our team's success and we hope this year is no exception. Our newcomers have played consistently well all year and expect big performances led by House and Walker.” 

 

The Fighting Tigers will be led by sophomore Joshua House, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Saratoga Springs High School, who earned Second Team All-NAC honors in 2022 along with a roster featuring: first-year Taylor Brock, Candor, N.Y., Candor High School, junior Leo Rosenstadt, Westchester, N.Y., Scarsdale High School, sophomore Isaac Walker, Roxbury, N.Y., Roxbury High School, and senior Sean McMahan, Clifton Park, N.Y., Shenendehowa High School.

 

The 2023 NAC Men’s Championship Golf Tournament will be hosted by SUNY Canton at the par-72/6569-yard Partridge Run Golf & Country Club in Canton, N.Y. from Saturday October 7 thru Sunday October 8 with play on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. and Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

SUNY COBLESKILL WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TOPS CURRY COLLEGE 3-2 IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION



Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women’s volleyball team returned to the court on Friday evening to post a hard-fought victory over the visiting Coronels of Curry College in non-conference action 3-2 by set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 21-25 and 15-8 at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the win the Fighting Tigers move to 6-9 overall on the year while the Coronels are now 4-12 to date.


The Fighting Tiger front line proved to be the difference in the game led by senior middle hitter/outside hitter Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua North High School, who pounded the Coronel defense for 28 kills to go with 16 digs with first-year opposite side hitter Kathleen Smart, Nashville, Tenn., Pope John Paul II Prep., going for 12 kills and 11 digs on the evening. First-year outside hitter Hallie Gasner, Middleburgh, N.Y., Middleburgh High School, was also a factor in the win with six kills, five digs and a solo block.


The Cobleskill setter corps had a big night as senior Kasey Orolowski, Hewitt, N.J., West Milford High School, had 32 assists, 11 digs and a pair of service aces while first-year Baylee Kirschberg, Lindenhurst, N.Y., Lindenhurst High School, had 17 assists, nine digs and three kills.


The Orange & Black will next be in action on Saturday October 7 when they host a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Triangular Meet featuring the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton and the Lions of Eastern Nazarene College. Cobleskill will open play at 11:00 a.m. when they meet the Kangaroos followed by a 3:00 p.m. meeting with the Lions.
