Farmer's Market Coupons Available Mid-July
Farmers Markets and participating Farm Stands are now open to provide farm fresh fruits and vegetables for good health and nutrition. Again, this year, Delaware County senior citizens may take advantage of the Farmers Market Coupon Program to receive twenty dollars ($20) worth of free New York State grown produce. These coupons can only be used for fresh fruits and vegetables, no baked or processed foods, at participating vendors. Delaware County Office for the Aging will coordinate the distribution of the booklets for households of eligible seniors.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR 2021
To be eligible for Farmers Market Coupons, a person must be:
A senior (age 60 or older),
AND a NY state resident,
AND currently receiving or eligible for SSI, public assistance or Section 8 housing subsidy;
OR have an income that meets one of the following criteria: a one person household with a gross income of $1,986 or less per month; a two person household with a combined gross income of $2,686 or less per month; a three-person household with a combined gross income of $3,386 or less per month.
PROGRAM GUIDELINES – UPDATES FOR 2021
This year, each older adult in a household is eligible to receive one coupon booklet, if they meet the age and income requirements.
Eligible seniors must personally sign to receive their coupon booklet; no one else will be allowed to sign for them unless they have a legal POA, and can show proof. A client may elect to have a proxy pick up coupon booklets for them. The proxy must present a proxy form signed by the client at time of pick up. A client can call the office to request a proxy form be mailed/emailed to them. At the markets, caregivers/others can redeem coupons if the recipient is unable to shop in person.
Coupon booklets can be mailed this year if the recipient has SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare Savings Program, or the Extra Help Program. **Clients take full responsibility for mailed coupons and will not be issued another booklet if they are lost in the mail.**
The deadline for distributing Farmers Market Coupons this year August 30; booklets cannot be issued after this date. Coupons are only valid during the current program year from July 1 – November 30, 2021.
DISTRIBUTION SITES AND MARKET LOCATIONS
Eligible seniors may pick up coupons at the Office for the Aging at 97 Main Street, Suite 2, Delhi; Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm. Other distribution sites include senior dining centers and senior housing units. Please contact Yvonne Brock at Delaware County Office for the Aging, 607-832-5750, for further information.

THE CLARK FOUNDATION AND THE HUNGER COALITION OF OTSEGO COUNTY, WITH ASSISTANCE FROM NYCON, ANNOUNCE FUNDING SUPPORT FOR FOOD PANTRIES IN THE HCOC NETWORK

Oneonta, NY – June 11, 2021 – The Hunger Coalition of Otsego County (HCOC) is pleased to announce $27,000 in funding support for 16 food pantries located across Otsego County. This support is made possible by The Clark Foundation and The Hunger Coalition of Otsego County. The New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON) provided administrative support. This is the second grant The Clark Foundation has provided since the start of the pandemic.
With the continued challenges from the impact of Covid-19 on Otsego County residents, the Hunger Coalition of Otsego County’s partner food pantries are on the front lines in providing assistance to residents facing significant hardship. “We are pleased to support these volunteer-led efforts across the County with a second set of grants,” said Jane Forbes Clark, President of The Clark Foundation. “These food pantries and their volunteers are essential to the well-being of our communities, and we need them now more than ever.”
“We are delighted to continue our partnership between the Hunger Coalition and with The Clark Foundation to help so many families and individuals living in the County,” said Cindy Blanchard, President of the HCOC. “Our efforts will continue to fill the ongoing needs of our community.”
This funding will provide essential support for 16 organizations: Burlington Flats Food Pantry, Butternut Valley Food Pantry (Gilbertsville), Community Cupboard of Edmeston, Daily Bread Food Pantry (Cherry Valley), Hartwick Food Pantry, Helping Hands Food Pantry (Oneonta), Southtown Food Pantry (South New Berlin), United Methodist Church Food Pantry (Mt. Upton), Richfield Springs Food Pantry, Schuyler Lake Food Cupboard, FDT Food Pantry (Maryland), St. Mary’s Food Pantry (Oneonta), St. Matthew Lutheran Food Pantry (Laurens), Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry (St. James Church, Oneonta), The Salvation Army Food Pantry (Oneonta), and Unadilla Community Food Pantry.

HCOC Hunger Coalition of Otsego County NY
The Hunger Coalition is proud to announce a $ 10,000 Grant given to CADE to assist in providing nutritious fresh local sourced produce to Food Pantries in the Hunger Coalition of Otsego Network. These funds come from various generous donations given to the HCOC.
CADE Farm to Pantry: For several years CADE has been working on advancing partnerships between Farms and Institutions to spur local food sales. As a response to COVID-19 and abundant food insecurity that was highlighted throughout the pandemic, CADE launched in 2020 a Farm to Pantry (F2P) Program with generous funding and community partnership in Otsego County. The program allows pantries to "sign on" to CADE's program where they could then order from a multi-farm aggregator, 607 CSA, to purchase local products for their pantry. CADE facilitates the ordering, handles invoicing and coordinates delivery so that local food ordered by pantries can be purchased with ease. The products ordered from pantries are paid for by community funding, to support a win-win of local fresh food to pantries and a stable market for struggling farm and food businesses. This program and local food is of no cost to pantries, with the hope that relationships with farms would continue beyond the scope of the project. Launching mid-June in 2021, thanks to funding support from the Hunger Coalition of Otsego County, CADE will continue this important work of fresh food security and supporting small farms and food businesses.
HCOC: Our group was created to help feeding programs unite. Our Network shares information and resources throughout Otsego County.
We are a diverse group of people representing food pantries, feeding programs, farmer's markets, religious, educational and non- profit agencies and individuals. COVID has expanded our purpose to include other projects to assist pantries in providing for their needs. CADE: The Center for Agricultural Development and Entrepreneurship is a 501(c)3 nonprofit who works with farms and food businesses in upstate New York to build a vibrant food system, in which locally owned agricultural businesses thrive and consumers are nourished by healthy sustainably produced food.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:
Todd Stephens wrote, produced and directed ANOTHER GAY MOVIE and GYPSY 83 and also wrote and produced EDGE OF SEVENTEEN. All four of his previous features won numerous festival awards and were released theatrically all over the world. Todd is currently a Professor of Film at The School of Visual Arts in NYC.
