Jefferson Man Arrested for Domestic Dispute

New York State Troopers stationed in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of a twenty-nine year old Jefferson man following a domestic incident that occurred yesterday evening at approximately 11:30 p.m. 

State Police arrested Joel R. Wilson following the report of a physical domestic in progress. Wilson was charged with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and Harassment in the Second Degree after a confrontation with a female victim. 

Wilson was arraigned in the Town of Jefferson Court, where an Order of Protection was issued. The accused is set to return to the Town of Jefferson Court on Monday, May 4th at 5:00 p.m. 

Cobleskill Woman Arrested for Criminal Trespassing

New York State Police in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of a woman for Criminal Trespassing after she entered a home looking for her ex-boyfriend.

Troopers report that Donna M. Taylor, age 52, of Cobleskill, New York, entered a residency uninvited and unannounced while the residents were not home. A friend of the residents was home and found Taylor, who was asking if her ex-boyfriend still love there.

Taylor was arrested for Criminal Trespassing in the Second Degree, a class A Misdemeanor. She was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Cobleskill Court on Tuesday, May 12th, 2015.

State Police in Coby Conduct "Operation Hang Up" Campaign

New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill have recently conducted a six day Operation Hang Up campaign to combat distracted driving. 

From April 10th to 15th Troopers in Cobleskill issued 16 tickets for operating a motor vehicle while talking or texting on a cell phone or using an electronic device.

This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to stop distracted driving and stress the danger of operating a motor vehicle while using electronic devices. Troopers plan to continue their efforts throughout the year in order to make New York's streets and highways safer.

According to statistics, approximately 23% of all auto collisions in 2011 involved the use of a cell phone. That equals out to roughly 1.3 million car crashes. 

State Police Nab Two Motorists for Pot Possession

State Police stationed in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of two men that were stopped for automotive infractions and were subsequently founded to be in the Unlawful Possession of Marihuana:
  • State Police out of Cobleskill arrested a Schoharie man for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana following a traffic stop in the Town of Cobleskill on April 7, 2015.Aundre B. Ellison was stopped for a traffic violation, during the interview Troopers determined that he was in possession of a small amount of marihuana.  Ellison was issued an Appearance Ticket to appear in the Town of Cobleskill Court on Tuesday April 21, 2015. 
  • State Police in Cobleskill arrested a Massachusetts man for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana following a traffic stop on Interstate 88 in the Town of Cobleskill.Aaron L Chernin age 21 of Acton Massachusetts was stopped for a speeding violation on I-88 in the Town of Cobleskill, during the interview Troopers determined that he was in possession of approximately 4 grams of Marihuana.  Chernin was issued an Appearance Ticket for the Marihuana arrest and a speeding ticket for the traffic violation returnable to Cobleskill Town Court on April 20, 2015 at 4:00pm.


 

State Police Conduct School Zone Speed Enforcement in Sharon

New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill recently performed a school zone speed enforcement details at the Sharon Springs Central School in the Town of Sharon, according to a press release issued today.

The detail was executed during the afternoon and encompassed the dismissal time of students as well as various after school activities. Six motorists were issued traffic citations for speeding violations.

This detail was run in conjunction with ongoing traffic safety initiatives that are focused on highway and pedestrian safety. Troopers plan more efforts in the future to ensure highway safety in Schoharie County.

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust in Coby

State Police arrested a Cobleskill man on a drug charge following a traffic stop on State Route 7 in the Town of Cobleskill.

Dak A. Kruglak age 18 of Cobleskill was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana following a traffic stop.  Kruglak was stopped for a Vehicle and Traffic Violation and found to be in possession of approximately 5 grams of Marihuana.  

Kruglak was issued an Appearance Ticket to appear in the Town of Cobleskill Court on March 17, 2015 at 4:00 PM.
 

Schenectady Man Arrested for Mburgh Burglary

Henry Castaing, 30, from Schenectady was arrested by State Police related to a burglary investigation in Middleburgh.  The burglary occurred at a private residence in July of 2014 where household items and tools were stolen.  

One arrest had been made previously in the investigation and additional arrests are anticipated.  Castaing was linked to the burglary through a DNA data-bank hit which placed him in the scene of the crime.  He was charged with Burglary 2nd, a felony, and was turned over to the custody of the Schoharie County Sheriff in lieu of bail.  


State Police Arrest Coby Man for Falsely Reporting Terrorist Activities

On March 05, State Police arrested Bradley A. Hingeley ,40, of Cobleskill, NY for Falsely Reporting an Incident 3rd Degree and Resisting Arrest, both misdemeanors. Hingeley had contacted the New York State Terrorism Tips Line 1-866-SAFE NYS (1-866-723-3697) and falsely reported information that a subject was engaging in terrorism related activities. 


An investigation determined that Hingeley had fabricated the information about the subject's conduct for ulterior motives. Hingeley physically resisted arrest while he was being taken into custody. He was arraigned in the Town of Cobleskill Court and remanded to the Schoharie County Jail in lieu of bail.

Man Arrested for Disturbance at Cobleskill Holiday Motel

Troopers arrested an Albany County man for multiple charges following a disturbance that occurred at the Holiday Motel in Cobleskill.

Timothy L. Harrington was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief and Attempted Criminal Trespass following a 911 call that originated from a room at the Holiday Motel.  Harrington was located walking on State Route 7 as Troopers were responding to the call of a disturbance.  

Further investigation revealed that Harrington kicked in a door while attempting to enter a room, damaging the door.  After the occupants of the room were able to secure the door Harrington attempted to flee on foot.  Harrington was arraigned in the Town of Cobleskill Court and remanded to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility on cash bail. 

Sheriff's Nab Sharon Man on Harassment Charges 

Schoharie County Sheriff's Deputies arrested twenty-five year old Corey A. Merwin Thursday evening on an arrest warrant for aggravated harassment in the second degree stemming from an incident in the Town of Sharon.

Mr. Merwin was arraigned in the Town of Carlisle court and remanded to the Schoharie County Jail to appear in the Town of Sharon court on Wednesday, March 19th.

State Police Crackdown on Cell Use in Cobleskill

New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill have announced an increase in road patrols to combat distracted driving in Schoharie County. 

Dispatching Troopers to crack down on cell phone use during a six hour traffic detail on February 19th, officers issued six tickets to motorists for illegally using their cellular devices. 

Building on last week's success, State Police plan on continuing their crackdown on distracted driving and the use of cell phones. 

The New York State Legislature has regularly increased the severity of charges for being caught with a cellphone while driving in recent years. 

A first offense could cost a motorist $50-$200; a second offense within eighteen months could cost $50-$250; and a third or subsequent offense within an additional eighteen months could run $50-$450. 

Drivers may also lose up to five points from their license.

State Police Arrest Jersey Man for Marijuana Possession

New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of a New Jersey man for possession of marijuana. 

Thomas C. Dagostino, 51, of Monroe, New Jersey, was stopped on I-88 near exit 23 in Schoharie for speeding on Monday afternoon. Upon interviewing the suspect, an odor of marijuana was detected inside the vehicle by State Police on scene. 

A search of the vehicle yielded approximately 7.6 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag, as well as a metal grinder, metal pipe, and a brown wooden box all with marijuana residue.

Dagostino was issued an Appearance Ticket and Traffic Tickets returnable to the Town of Schoharie Court on August 11th.

State Police Arrest Schoharie Man Following Domestic Dispute

New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of a Schoharie man following a domestic incident in the Village of Schoharie. 

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Thursday July 10th, State Troopers received the report of a domestic in progress at 130 Fair Street in Schoharie. When they arrived Troopers were met by Jeremy S. Roe who was intoxicated and belligerent towards the patrols.

Mr. Roe then became combative toward the Troopers who arrested him for Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. 

He was arraigned in the Village of Schoharie before being released to appear on July 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. 

Richmondville Man Arrested for Street Fight

New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of a Richmondville man following the report of a disturbance on Main Street. 

At approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday July 12th, State Police received the disturbance report. Responding patrols encountered Culver Hernandez, thirty-four, of Richmondville, New York, attempting to fight multiple individuals in the roadway. 

Law enforcement on scene initially determined that the suspect had became intoxicated and engaged in the physical confrontation. Hernandez would reportedly be detained while the State Police continued its investigation. 

Further investigating led to the discovery that the suspect has destroyed property and groper a female prior to the fight that then spilled out into the street. Hernandez would then be charged with Forcible Touching, Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, and Disorderly Conduct. 

The suspect was arraigned in the Town of Richmondville Court, and remanded to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility to return to court on July 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m.

State Police Arrest Two, Charge Three Others for Trespassing

New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of two suspects, and charged three others, following a trespass complaint in the Town of Gilboa. 

On July 14, State Police were called to investigate a trespass in progress on Stryker Road in the Town of Gilboa. The ensuring investigation revealed that five young adults in their teens and twenties had entered a posted property on Stryker, and that two of them had entered a storage building on the grounds.

Charles Deiterich, 18, of Grand Gorge, New York and Robert Remley, 20, of Prattsville, New York were arrested for Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree and issued Appearance Tickets to return to Town of Gilboa Court on July 24th at 7:30 p.m. 

Additionally, Kaitlyn Snediker, 18, of Islip, New York; Brooke Koerner, 19, of Gilboa, New York, and John Voetelink, 20, of Prattsville, New York were all charged with Trespass and released on Appearance Tickets to also appear in court on the 24th. 

State Police Arrest Local Man for Stealing Sister's Car

New York State Troopers stationed in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of Jeffrey D. Johnson for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Petit Larceny after a complaint was filed by the suspect's sister.

Johnson was arrested by State Police on Saturday, July 12th after he took his sister's car without permission while she was asleep earlier in the week. After realizing her car was missing the complainant contacted her brother and requested that he return the vehicle.

Although the vehicle would be returned the following day, Troopers discovered over the course of their investigation that Mr. Johnson also removed an I-Pad from the car, which has not been recovered at this time. 

The suspect was arraigned and ordered to reappear in the Town of Esperance Court on July 16, 2014. 

Sharon Teen Arrested for Burglary, Charged with 3 Felonies

New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of a fourteen year old Sharon Springs resident for the burglary of a local business in April. 

The suspect reportedly broke into Eclipse Overhead Doors on State 10, and while inside, "smashed several windows and stole an item. Outside the building, the windows of three windows were broken." After processing several items of evidence and conducting numerous interviews, troopers closed the case last week.

The teen was charged with one count of Burglary in the Third Degree and two counts of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, all of which are felonies. The youth will answer his charges in Schoharie County Family Court.

Richmondville Man Arrested for Possession of Heroin

New York State Police have announced the arrest of twenty year old Leland W. Pitt of Richmondville, New York for possession of heroin after he was pulled over on I-88 for unrelated reasons on Thursday, June 12th. 

Troopers stopped the suspect in Duanesburg for an equipment violation at approximately three thirty that afternoon, when the officer on scene observed Mr. Pitt attempting to hide something on his person. A search of the driver and vehicle revealed the suspect was in possession of three decks of heroin.

Mr. Pitt was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor, and was subsequently released on tickets. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Duanesburg Court on Monday, July 7th at 7:00 p.m.

State Police Arrest Teenage Speeding on I-88

On Monday, New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill arrested seventeen year old Kevin Lenehan of Delanson after he was observed driving a 103 miles per hour on Interstate-88 in the Town of Schoharie. The driver, according to police reports, repeatedly asked why he had been pulled over. 

The State Trooper on scene smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle while interviewing the driver. A search of the blue Honda Civic del Sol revealed that Lenehan and his passenger, seventeen year old Harrison McQueeny, of Duanesburg, were both in possession of the criminal substance. 

Both teenagers were ticketed and are scheduled to appear in the Town of Schoharie Court on June 16th, at 4:00 p.m. 

Sheriff's Department Arrest Schoharie Man Following Stewart's Incident

The Schoharie County Sheriff's Department has announced the arrest of forty-eight year old Ward Arnold Jr. of Schoharie for Harassment in the Second Degree following a incident at the Schoharie Stewart's on Monday morning.

Arnold was reportedly harassing a female patron in the convenience store. The suspect was issued an appearance ticket to appear before Town of Schoharie Court on June 16th. According to the Oneonta Daily Star, he was previously arrested by Sheriff's Deputies for Harassment in the First Degree back in 2009. 

Schoharie Man Faces Alcohol and Drug Related Charges

New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of fifty-seven year old Dennis Robtoy of Schoharie, who was stopped on State Route 145 by a State Trooper for failing to keep right earlier this week, and will face alcohol and drug related charges stemming from the incident. 


After being pulled over, Robtoy was found to be intoxicated and was in possession of marijuana and a metal smoking pipe that contained the illegal substance. He tested at a .08% blood alcohol concentration and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. 

Robtoy will appear in the Town of Cobleskill Court on June 10th for further action.



Carlisle Man Arrested for Aggravated DWI

New York State Police stationed in Princetown have announced the arrest of twenty-nine year old Jacob J. Bradt of Carlisle for Aggravated DWI.

State Police stopped Mr. Bradt on June 3rd near the intersection of Routes 20 and 30 in Duanesburg, and upon interviewing him, detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Mr. Bradt refused on-scene sobriety tests and was then placed into custody for DWI. 

He was then transported back to the State Police Station in Princetown for processing where he provided a BAC of .26 percent, or three times over the legal limit. Mr. Bradt was released on tickets and will appear in the Town of Duanesburg Court on June 30th at 7:00 p.m.

Cobleskill Police Nab Second Heroin Arrest

The Cobleskill Police Department has announced that, in conjunction with the New York State Police Community Narcotics Team (CNET), they have arrested twenty year old Mouro Sow of Spencer, New York for allegedly selling heroin in the Village of Cobleskill. 


State Troopers apprehended the suspect around 4:40 pm Friday afternoon in the Town of Spencer after New York State Police Troop C was notified of arrest warrants for the man originating from the Cobleskill Police Department. Sow was turned over to local law enforcement for further action.

During an ongoing joint investigation, it was discovered that Sow was allegedly in possession and selling heroin. As the information was developed it led to two separate purchases of the illegal drug on at least two occasions from the suspect. This marks the second such arrest in as many weeks by Cobleskill Police. 

Sow was charged with two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Class B Felonies. He was arraigned in the Town of Cobleskill Court and was subsequently remanded to Schoharie County Correctional Facility on $10,000.00 cash bail or $30,000.00 bond. He is to return to Town of Cobleskill Court on Tuesday, May 26 at 4:00 pm for further action.

Troy Man Arrested for Drug Possession in Blenheim

New York State Police stationed in Cobleskill have announced the arrest of thirty-two year old Donald J. Howell of Troy, New York for drug possession last Thursday in the Town of Blenheim. The suspect was stopped by State Police on State Route 30 for a traffic infraction when Troopers observed an odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. 


Pursuant to a search, Howell was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana and Alprazolam without a prescription, a scheduled IV controlled substance.

State Police arrested and charged Howell with Criminal Possession of a Controlled substance in the 7th degree, Controlled Substance Not In Its Original Container, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. He is to appear before the Town of Blenheim Court on May 28.
