CHRISTOPHER T. LABOMBARD JR. PLEADS GUILTY TO CRIMINAL CONTEMPT

Schoharie County — Schoharie County District Attorney Susan J.  Mallery announced that Christopher T. Labombard Jr., age 34, has  pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree,  a Class E felony. The charge stems from an incident in which Labombard  is alleged to have willfully violated a Schoharie County Family Court  Order prohibiting him from having contact with a protected child. The  violation was directly observed by Schoharie County Deputy Valvo,  who witnessed the prohibited contact.

Labombard’s sentencing has been adjourned to August 14, 2025, at which  time the Court may impose an indeterminate sentence not to exceed one  (1) year minimum and three (3) years maximum.

District Attorney Mallery thanked Deputy Valvo for her prompt response  and careful observation, and also extended her appreciation to Deputy  Rippel for his assistance in the investigation.

“Protecting the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals, especially  children, is of the utmost importance,” said DA Mallery. “Violations of  court orders will be prosecuted vigorously.”

Local History at the Old Stone Fort - Coffee Grinder and Dragoon Helmet

Carrington Coffee Grinder, Cast Iron

The Old Stone Fort’s Clay Edmunds shared coffee grinder, manufactured by Carrington Coffee Mills. James Carrington of Connecticut patented his coffee mill design on April 3, 1829. It was used to grind whole coffee beans into a fine powder for brewing.

Dragoon Helmet

French 1772 pattern (reproduction)

The Second Continental Light Dragoons were the only American cavalry to wear these distinctive European-style brass helmets, depicted in several of John Trumbull’s paintings, including The Surrender at Yorktown.

This example was reproduced in France using some of the original diestocks. It was presented by Sheldon’s Horse, 2nd Continental Light Dragoons, reactivated on the 225th anniversary of their historic charge on August 13, 1777.
